French toast is a basic staple for breakfast in my family. My daughter loves to make this with me. My little son would watch as we beat the eggs to the tune of Sesame Street. Now grown-up the kids are feeding and making french toasts. It is so good to spend your hours with family and children, do not give up your joys. If you can afford it, be a stay at home parent.
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
1 cup milk or cream
8 to 10 slices bread (Pepperidge Farm Plain Bread Thin Slices) or 4 Bagels
A pinch of Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Cardamon (your choice)
1/4 tsp vanilla essence (I like this on many mornings)
1 Deep Bowl for mixing
1 non-stick pan or Iron Skillet
Ghee or Butter as needed for frying
Cut off the brown edges of bread slices. (save for making dry croutons or breadcrumbs later)
For Bagel cut into half as shown.
Beat the eggs fluffy with a fork
Mix the rest of ingredients into egg mixture.
Get your pan started with a little bit of grease on low heat.
Soak each bread slice for 10 seconds in the milk mix and then lift it and let it drain and put in the hot pan immediately.
Fry for 1 minute, flip over and check to see the golden brown color.
Fry 1 more minute or until needed to get a perfect golden brown french toast.
Served with 2 fried eggs, maple syrup, bacon or hash browns. Fresh Fruit on the side goes well with this french toast and you can top off with whipped cream for fun.
