Kumas test

On our Wedding Anniversary day, I thought, I will give my hubby Jamshed a treat of good old Kumas.

Jamshed’s mother Jaloo mai used to make great Kumas and so did my mother Parin and grandmother Tehmina.   I have made Kumas myself many times, but I wanted to try it this time in a different way.

We learn from our “burzorg” (elder ones), so I thought why not try out the Kumas  from Niloufer Mavalwala’s cookbook? I could not find her Kumas recipe anywhere on facebook or her blog, so I purchased her EBook.. Isn’t Technology great? In under 30 minutes I was off and running & using the e-cookbook and Kumas recipe!

  • The Kumas came out good!
  • I added one more step to the process. I found that adding the melted butter later gives a more fluffy and less dry Kumas cake.
  • I used less of the Nutmeg, Cardamom and changed the quantity of Saffron.
