The Mediterranean and Middle Eastern region has always been famous for the cultivation of dates and has ancient roots. The dates of Iran are grown mainly towards the southern region of the country and especially in the provinces of Kerman, Khuzestan, Sistan & Balouchestan, Hormozgan and Bushehr. Iran produces over one million Tons of high quality dates each year and is one of top producing countries for this nutritious dry fruit. The Iranian dates come in a range of varieties the most famous ones being the Mazafati and the Piarom. The Piarom dates are longer in shaped, drier and have a perfect balance of sweetness and fiber, they are considered one of the best dates in the world and are more expensive. Dates have tens of health benefits and we suggest taking a few boxes to any tourist visiting Iran.
