Freny Mehta Dar ni Pori Bake Along

Do you love dar? Do you love pori? Are you excited to learn how to put them together in the comfort of your own kitchen? If so, fill out the fields below to register for the first ever, all digital, Dar ni Pori Bake-along!

The pori-making will be split over 2 sessions:

Session 1: March 27th, 11:00am-12:30pm Central Time – preparing the dar & mixing the dough

Session 2: March 28th, 11:00am-12:30pm Central Time – assembling & baking the poris

Please join  in the “Freny Mehta Dar ni Pori Bake Along” – to learning how to make these tasty Dar Ni Poris….especially in this month of Avan Mahino when it is customary to make and distribute these to family and friends!

We are excited to announce that we will be carrying on with our annual Freny Mehta Dar ni Pori Fundraiser this year, with some changes due to the pandemic.

Instead of hosting an all-day bake-a-thon producing 300+ poris at the Chicago Darbe Mehr as in years past, the Mehta, Sribnick and Dubash families will be hosting a 2-part virtual bake-along on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th at 11am CT. We will make a small batch of 4 poris from the comfort of our own kitchens. Over the two days, we will bake the recipe from start to finish, and you can enjoy the poris fresh out of the oven or savor them for a few weeks!

These unprecedented times have been difficult for all, and we are grateful everyday for the good things in our lives. To make this year extra-special, we will be raising funds for two great causes. Donations from this event will be distributed equally between the “ZAC Ava Fund” and the “Feed My Starving Children” Food Pantry. Feel good for indulging in this once-a-year treat while helping others with your generous donation.

For a donation of $30 per family, you will get the Zoom links for the bake-along, a detailed recipe, and setup instructions. Then get set for the interactive Zoom sessions where Zenobia will walk participants through making the dar, preparing the Pori dough, and then putting it all together for baking. New and seasoned Pori bakers are welcome! We want to keep the spirit and camaraderie of years past, so join us even if you aren’t up for baking along.

Pull out your aprons, prepare your masoor-pao lunch, heat up your tea kettles and sign-up here for this one-time only event!
