Khichdi ingredients
* 150gm rice
* 75gm moong Dal
* 550gm water
* Salt
In a large pot, bring all to boil. Cover with a tight lid. Lower heat and cook for 20 minutes.
For khichdi tadka (optional)
– 1 TB ghee
– 1/2 TB cumin seeds
– 3-4 cloves
– 1 tsp grated ginger
– 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafetida (hing)
Add this tempering (called tadka) at the end on top of the khichadi.
For Kadhi
* 350 gm sour yoghurt
* 300 gm water
* 50 gm besan / gram flour
* Salt
* Jaggery as required
Mix all with a beater till blended and smooth paste. Cook in a large pot for at least 30 minutes. This make the kadhi creamy and tasty !
For Kadhi tadka
– 1 TB ghee
– 1/2 TB cumin seeds
– 3-4 fenugreek seeds
– Curry leaves
– 1/2 tsp grated ginger
– 1/4 tsp asafetida (hing)
